Columbia River Occupational Health is able to provide the full range of Occupational Health services to the employers and employees in Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon.

While working with the injured worker is the most visible role of Occupational Medicine, preventive medicine and exposure surveillance are major aspects of this specialty. By monitoring the health of workers with exposures to heavy metals, asbestos, noise, radiation, pesticides, etc., the potential injury can be greatly reduced or eliminated.

On-the-Job-Injury Treatment:
Work related injuries put a significant demand on employers in direct expense and in lost productivity. The goal in treating the injured worker is to get them back to work, either full duty or modified duty, as quickly and safely as possible.

Medical Surveillance:
Medical surveillance exams as mandated by OSHA, OR-OSHA, and WISHA include physical exams, hearing tests, lab tests, pulmonary testing, and x-rays. Some of the exposures that require surveillance include arsenic, asbestos, benzene, beryllium, cadmium, lead, noise, pesticide exposure, silica, TCE and vinyl chloride.

Employer Exams:
Employer mandated exams are designed to help the employer know that an employee is capable of performing their job. Exams include pre-placement, return to work and fit for duty. Job specific exams for fitness include firefighters, crane operators, merchant mariners and police.

CDL Medical Exam:
The goal of the CDL medical exam is two fold. First, is to assure that the driver is healthy and medically capable of performing the tasks of their job. The second, is to assure the public that the driver is safe to share the road.

FAA Pilot Exam:
As a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, Dr. Thompson can certify all three classes of pilots.

Drug Collection and Breath Alcohol Testing:
Drug test collections and breath alcohol testing for both DOT mandated and employer mandated (non-DOT) programs are available at CROH. The clinic has DATIA certified collectors. Consortiums for DOT and non-DOT testing can be set up and managed by our staff.  CROH can do a variety of testing types: DOT, Non-DOT, rapid screens, saliva testing, and hair sampling. Contact the CROH staff to discuss your testing needs.

Fit testing: Qualitative and Quantitative:

CROH can provide both qualitative and quantitative respirator fit testing. Using a Fit Tester 3000, quantitative fit testing assures the most accurate fit for SCBA and high risk respirator environments.

Travel Medicine:
Travelers whose travels include tropical, "3rd world", or adventure treks may require immunizations or medications to prevent illness that could ruin the trip. CROH has many years of experience in counseling travelers and providing appropriate preventive treatments.

Pre-Travel Counseling:
In discussing your travel plans we can determine the health risks along your route. Many of these risks can be greatly reduced with awareness, simple precautions and appropriate medications or vaccinations.
